How to Download YouTube Videos in Chrome

One problem with YouTube is that you can only watch videos when you're connected to the Internet. By using an extension for Chrome, you can download videos from YouTube for offline viewing.

Steps

  1. 1
Search for a YouTube downloader in Chrome. Select a link for one such as "Chrome YouTube Downloader."
  2. 2
Select "Visit website" to get more information about the downloader.
  3. 3
Hit the download link for the most recent version to download it to your computer. Make sure that you are using a supported browser as well.
  4. 4
Click the wrench in the top right of chrome, and then select "Tools," then "Extensions."
  5. 5
Click and drag the file you just downloaded from the bottom corner of Chrome up to anywhere in the extensions screen. If you download .zip file, extract it anywhere on your computer and drag and drop the .crx file in the extension screen.
  6. 6
Drop the file there to begin installation. It will say "drop to install" when it's ready.
  7. 7
Visit any YouTube video. Click the "download" button that now appears there to download it to your computer.

Tips

  • You can also use the extension to download MP3 versions of videos by simply selecting it from the drop-down menu next to "download."

Warnings

  • Downloading YouTube videos can be against copyright law depending on the current laws in your area.
